Just testing out a process. I thought it would be nice to be able to blog my journey to Reno. Of course it would be nice to add photos to my post. But, I don’t own an iPhone, where I can snap a picture right from the WordPress app and add it to the post seemlessly.

No problem.

I do own a camera phone. Basically, I snap a shot on the camera phone, email it to my main email address where I recieve it on my iPod touch. I then hold my finger on the photo until the save dialog comes up and click save. From there I can then add it into the WordPress app in my post. Not as convienient as iPhone owners have it, but it works.

As you can see from the screenshot I took from my iPod touch, videos that I uploaded to Vimeo do not show up where those from YouTube do. Apple’s iMovie software has had the ability to upload videos to YouTube for a while, but I’ve never had a reason to utilize this option until now.

The only thing that really bothers me about this is the video quality from YouTube is horrible compared to Vimeo. I’ll have to see of there’s somekind of work-around to improve the quality.

Just doing a test run of the WordPress app for the iPhone and iPod touch. It’s a free app and could be something that brings me back to WordPress.

As you can see, I was also able to add a quick picture (in this case a screenshot of the app itself) to the post with ease. Pictures show up in the place that you are in the post. If you’re lucky enough to have an iPhone, this becomes really handy as you can take photos on the fly with the built-in camera and really take moblogging to it’s fullest extent.

If there was anything that I really didn’t like about the app is the lack of being able to type with the device in landscape mode. I’m sure this can be done with a simple sofeware update, however.

Overall, I feel WordPress did right in this app and best of all it’s free.

Last night, I learned that the best iPhone/iPod touch jailbreaking tool, ZiPhone, finally released a version that supported the newer releases of the iPod touch (which I have). So, I restored the 1.1.4 firmware so that my iPod touch was back to factory settings, then ran this software. 45 seconds later, I was jailbroken and off to the races with playing around. The above shot shows off the Summerboard theme I’m using.

For those that are totally confused, “jailbreaking” is how iPhone/iPod touch users can use third-party applications on their device, not to mention change the overall appearance.

The video here is a game I’m really looking for, called Trism, that is reminiscent of games like Tetris or Bejeweled. I usually get hooked on games like this, so if I stop blogging or lose contact for a while, there’s a chance I could be playing this a lot.
